Sydney Olympic Park has acknowledged the growing status and popularity of Extreme/Action Sports in Australia. It has built a series of world class Action Sports facilities including: Monster Skate Park, Monster Mountain X and Monster BMX.
Monster Skate Park is located opposite ANZ Stadium and the facility features skateboarding, inline skating and freestyle BMX. Its purpose is to facilitate general use programs and large scale events in those sports. It also features on-site retail and chill-out space.
The facility was in place and put on trial for the 2005 Royal Easter Show, 18-31 March. The facility also hosted its first event, The 2005 BMX Games on 23-24 April and continued the annual event 2006, 2007 and 2008.
The design and layout of the facility has involved the talents and input of some of Australia’s best known world class riders and skaters to ensure the credibility within the industry.

Monster Mountain X is a world-class mountain cross facility, comprising 250m of meandering, downhill, dirt jumps and turns.
Monster Mountain X has been built in conjunction with the national, state and local club associations of Mountain Bike disciplines and has involved some of Australia’s top riders in shaping the final design.
“Sydney Olympic Park is the home of action sports and Monster Mountain X adds another key facility to our offering,” Manager Sports Development, Tony Houhlias said.
Monster Mountain X is open from sunrise to sunset between the P5 carpark off Hill Road, Sydney Olympic Park.
Monster BMX
Monster BMX is leading the charge for our BMX athletes as they prepare for the 2008 Beijeing Games and the 2009 World Championships. The development of this facility has involved a number of key stakeholders from local, State and Federal Government in terms of construction funds and program development they include:
Monster BMX has hosted a number of elite events but is also the venue of the BMX Learn to Ride Program developed in conjunction with BMX Australia, NSW Police Bycycle Patrol Unit, Parklands Foundation and Sydney Olympic Park Authority the program is sponsored by Mongoose, GKF and Netti.
“We would love to see families and young people at both Monster BMX and Monster Mountain X during the school holidays and we encourage them to book into a clinic to improve their skills and techniques” said Brett Barnes NSW Police Bicycle Patrol Unit.
