AFL - Australian Football League

AFL originated in Victoria as Australian Rules and over time has evolved to be a major player in the Australian winter sport scene. The game involves kicking the ball accurately to team mates and at goal, as well as being able to handball (pass the ball) to one another. AFL involves good fitness, as the field is quite large.

At Sydney Olympic Park AFL is played at Telstra Stadium. This venue has the advantage of movable grandstands on both the western and eastern sides allowing it to accommodate the required 'oval' shaped layout,  necessary for AFL. The Sydney Swans v Collingwood match at Telstra Stadium on Saturday 23 August 2003 set an attendance record for the largest crowd to watch an AFL game outside of Victoria with 72,393 spectators. It was the largest home and away AFL crowd at any stadium for 2003.

Cheer on the 'red and white' as the game of AFL comes to Sydney Olympic Park. The Sydney Swans have designated three of their round matches and any home finals they qualify for to be held at Telstra Stadium. Many highly anticipated clashes take place each season.
