The precinct has a proud Netball history dating back to the World Championships in 1991. With developments generated through the Sydney 2000 Olympics the site now comprises three diverse venues for Netball, Acer Arena (formerley the Sydney SuperDome), the Sports Centre and Sports Halls. The Sydney TAB Swifts have won multiple Commonwealth Bank Trophy's from the Park and were runners up in 2005. The Australian women play annually in the Park and in November 2004 set a new attendance world record for Netball when 14,339 spectators saw Australia defeat New Zealand at the Sydney SuperDome (now Acer Arena). The previous record was also held in Sydney Olympic Park when in September 2004, 13,439 watched the Swifts and Melbourne Phoenix in the CBT.
In 2008, Netball hits new heights with the launch of the new trans Tasman competion the ANZ Championships and the NSW team the NSW Swifts.
