Armory Gallery

View of armory gallery and railway trackThe Gallery is located alongside the Wharf Entrance on the Parramatta River, at Building 18. Originally one of the largest armaments storehouses constructed by the Navy during World War II, the building has been adapted for reuse as a flexible exhibition space. Many interesting heritage features have been retained including a unique asphalt floor, which retains markings recording the storage of heavy ordnance, and gantries both inside and outside the building.

Crowds at the 2005 ARTEXPRESS at the ArmoryAt 500sqm, the building is the largest single room Gallery with uninterrupted wall space in Australia. It can accommodate up to 500 visitors at one time.

The venue is equipped with exhibition luminaires including profile spotlights and barndoor wall washes, a cable-hanging system, audio-visual equipment, 240 volt and three phase power, fibre optic connectivity for IT and telephone, amenities, kitchenettes and is fully accessible to people with disabilities.
