Red Back
I saw a red back
Underneath some blue-tac
On top of a clothes rack
On a piece of wood

He was spinning a web
Near the big shed
Hoping to be fed
And he was looking at me furiously

He climbed out of his hiding place
Looking at my face
Then returned to his base
To the middle of his web

Spider Track
Underneath the trees
On the inside of the leaves
There is a hairy, scary spider
That is an excellent hider

In the shadow of the log
Down in the bog
The great big spiders hide
Where they can't be spied

Where the path twists and turns
Between the green, wavy ferns
The funnel web lies sleeping
At night he will be creeping

We love spiders! (Dad doesn't...)
We like spiders - we like them all,
Some are big and some are small.
BUT Dad said "I don't like spiders, they really make me mad,
two legs GOOD, and eight legs BAD!!"
They spin their sticky web from here to there,
and it makes us laugh when it's in Dad's hair!
Dad said "I don't think THAT IS FUNNY", but WE had a great day today,
we made some crazy spider hats and had a great play!!!

A little spider
I have a little spider,
And I'm very fond of him.
He climbs on to my shoulder,
And then up to my chin.
He crawls down my arm,
And then down my leg.
Now he's a tired little spider
So I put him into bed.

A spiders life
Spiderlings hatch from eggs.
Each one has eight tiny legs.
A spider has more eyes than you.
Most have eight, and you have two.
A spider has two body parts.
Across its web it quickly darts.
From a spider's spinnerets
Sticky spider silk jets.
Spiders feel the frantic tugs,
Of their favorite food; it's bugs!

My Spider Hunt
On Friday, me and my friend Jack,
Had a spider hunt adventure in the Homebush outback.
First we made a spider hat,
So on our heads all day it sat.
Our spider guide was named John.
He was full of information as he led us along.
Over bridges and creeks we walked.
All along the bushy trail, John talked.
We met a friendly spider, I named Seb,
Who made a huge circular web.
The spider sitting in a curly leaf,
Was sort of friendly. What a relief!
There was a Golden Orb whose long legs were stripy and yellow.
She was pretty, quiet and fairly mellow.
We met a cross spider too,
Who didn't move or even say boo!
But most of all I liked making my hat,
So that is that!!
