About Sydney Olympic Park Authority

Sydney Olympic Park Authority is responsible for managing and developing the 640-hectares that comprise the Park and maintain it as a lasting legacy for the people of New South Wales.

Over 8.5 million people visited Sydney Olympic Park in 2007 to play sport, picnic in the parklands, ride a bicycle, attend a multicultural festival, take part in one of our many educational programs, attend a concert or watch world-class sporting events.

Sydney Olympic Park Authority is committed to maintaining the Park and providing a diverse and a unique range of activities for Sydneysiders and tourists.

Our Vision

Our vision is for the Park to become an internationally recognised example of intelligent place-making. A dynamic and diverse township for living, working, learning and recreation. A place for all people set within a world class built and natural environment.

Our Mission

Our Mission is to develop and maintain, to international standards, a unique and integrated township called 'Sydney Olympic Park'.

Our Business Objectives

The following 11 Business Objectives have been identified as achievable but challenging targets for the Authority to achieve in the next five to seven years:

  1. To build Sydney Olympic Park's position as Australia's premier sports precinct and to create an integrated sports industry model, unique in the world.
  2. To become a centre of excellence in education and training - drawing on the 'college town' model featuring a diverse student and institutional base woven into the fabric of the urban townscape.
  3. To establish Sydney Olympic Park as a township known for excellence in health, leisure and wellbeing. A place for spiritual, emotional, occupational, intellectual, economic, social, and physical welfare - a place of enrichment.
  4. To become a regional centre for culture, the arts, food and entertainment - an active, lively place that offers a distinctive array of social and cultural opportunities through events and other activities.
  5. To ensure that the principle of sustainability [environmental, social & economic] is a driving element of the Authority's place-leadership activities and the international recognition of Sydney Olympic Park as an outstanding example of intelligent place-making.
  6. To be home to one of the world's great urban parklands - Sydney Olympic Park - where nature, art and history come together.
  7. To create a high quality living and working environment that attracts and retains a critical mass of people who make full use of Sydney Olympic Park's high quality social and recreational infrastructure.
  8. To support the establishment of a knowledge economy at Sydney Olympic Park through the advanced application of Information Technology and Communications (ITC) that supports innovative education programs; improves communication capability; attracts business development and growth; and delivers state of the art services to those living, working, learning and playing at the Park.
  9. Grow visitation and yield to Sydney Olympic Park from the Leisure (local Sydney and tourists), Business Events (corporate and community) and Education (schools, tertiary and overseas) markets.
  10. To strengthen Sydney Olympic Park's position as a recognised international icon, an acknowledged and respected brand that adds value to its product and service offering.
  11. To enhance Government's return on its investment in Sydney Olympic Park by strengthening over time the financial and economic benefits to the State.
