Our commitment is to enhance the parklands at Sydney Olympic Park for the community to treasure as a place of enjoyment, learning, discovery, recreation, tranquillity and wellbeing.
The Parklands Foundation is the not for profit partner of Sydney Olympic Park. The Foundation was established to help add value to the future of Sydney Olympic Park by helping to attract community support through programs and tax-deductible donations from individuals and companies. Donations to the Foundation will help to enhance and preserve the 425-hectares
of parkland areas by fostering initiatives that would not otherwise be possible. The Foundation commenced its operations in March 2006.
The Parklands Foundation at Sydney Olympic Park organisation model has been inspired by some of the world’s great parks, including Golden Gate National Park, San Francisco, Central Park, New York and Royal Parks, London.
These organizations have helped develop community partnerships that have led to greater investment, involvement and enhancement of their parks.
With your involvement, we can develop new opportunities to help protect, maintain and improve the parklands, in promoting their environmental, recreational, historical, scientific, educational and cultural values. For this reason, the Foundation has the “Parklands
Fund” for the specific purpose of supporting the environmental and social programs in the Park.
To maintain and preserve the parklands at Sydney Olympic Park, the Sydney Olympic Park Authority established the Parklands Foundation in 2005, as a registered not for profit subsidiary corporation of the Authority, established under section 58 (2) of the Sydney Olympic Park Authority Act 2001.
Sydney Olympic Park has one of the world’s most diverse urban parklands consisting of 425-hectares of iconic natural and urban environments. Historically, the parklands have undergone a transformation of environmental and cultural renewal as part of the legacy of the Sydney 2000 Games.
The different environments provide sanctuary to many wildlife species such as the endangered Green and Golden Bell Frog and migratory shore birds of National and Regional significance. The remnant bushland, mangroves and salt marsh areas also provide important habitat for many resident wildlife.
