The Federal Government, through the Australian Disability Discrimination Act, 1992 (DDA) acknowledges the rights of all individuals to equitable and dignified access. Access is a basic human right and a fundamental pillar of social justice.
The purpose of the Sydney Olympic Park Access Guidelines, First Edition - June 2002 is to establish the requirements for an accessible environment. This means one in which people with mobility, vision, hearing or intellectual disabilities can use the facilities independently, equitably and with dignity.
These guidelines are intended to provide guidance to architects, designers, venue and event operators, developers and others who are involved in the design, fit-out, planning and operations of venues or proposed developments within Sydney Olympic Park of the requirements to ensure an accessible environment.
