The Australian and NSW Governments endorse individual's rights to access, and the Authority, in keeping with this principle of social justice, aims to provide an accessible environment within the parklands of Sydney Olympic Park.
The parklands occupy some 425-hectares, making them one of the largest urban parks in the world. As such, they are extensive and provide a range of challenges and opportunities for the end user and the Authority alike.
The purpose of the Parklands Access Strategy is to provide an understanding of the range of disabilities that need to be addressed to allow people with disabilities to be appropriately assisted to operate independently.
The strategy defines the philosophy, principles and guidelines for this purpose and application. The strategy supplements and should be read in conjunction with the Sydney Olympic Park Access Guidelines, Second Edition - December 2008.
