Yuey Cheong Then, regular guest chef on Channel Ten’s ‘Ready Steady Cook’ and the skilful hand behind the Asian delights at Dragonfly Restaurant, Surry Hills, will be sharing his secrets of cooking with steam on Sunday May 22 at Sydney Olympic Park’s Boulevard Market.
Everyone has enjoyed a pork bun in Chinatown or at a yum cha feast, but imagine being able to create those authentic flavours at home? Or why not a steamed Jewfish wrapped in banana leaf then steamed coconut custard with poached fruits for dessert!
Chef Yuey Cheong Then expertly manages to combine Asian and European cooking techniques and foods, but what else would you expect from a Malaysian Chinese born in Ireland with a yen for Japanese food! Crowds will be delighted to watch and learn from this eclectic chef with a passion for fresh clean flavours and beautifully presented dishes.
On the day The Boulevard Market serves up its usual sensational smorgasbord of international food, goods, crafts, fashion accessories, homewares, essential cooking ingredients and fresh produce.
For the junior ‘foodies’ there is free arts and crafts, food for every age and palate and ‘Kids’ Kitchen Capers’ running between 10am and 2pm, with cooking and food based activities to experience.
Further cosmopolitan highlights include South American crafts and jewellery, Chinese massage and herbal drinks, Arabic and European food and pastry delights, Indian crafts and homewares, a variety of Asian fashion accessories and international hot food dishes.
The Boulevard Markets are located at Olympic Boulevard, Sydney Olympic Park and run from 9.00am-2.00pm on Sunday May 22.
