The Greeks are responsible for many legacies….from the introduction of democracy to the invention of maps, the thermometer and the use of the alphabet, but one of their most popular gifts is their delicious cuisine.
Hatted chef David Tsirekas will be tempting visitors at Sydney Olympic Park with a range of mouth-watering Mediterranean meals at the Boulevard Market on Sunday, August 26. David is the passionate Greek chef from the award-winning Perama Restaurant in Petersham, winner of Favourite Mediterranean in the SMH Good Food Guide in 2006.
With the help of his mother Jenny, David will demonstrate how to prepare filo from scratch before delighting market-goers with his demonstrations of delicious traditional-Greek filo food delights, including scrumptious savoury pies (called Pita) and sweet baklava and bougatsa desserts.
David will be revealing his expert tips, tricks and delectable Greek recipes in three cooking demonstrations at 11am, 12pm and 1pm. Joanna Savill, Producer/Presenter of SBS ‘The Food Lovers’ Guide to Australia’, who is the popular MC at the Boulevard Market, will host the demonstrations.
The Boulevard Market is a monthly event for beginners and experienced cooks alike. For one Sunday every month, Sydney Olympic Park is transformed into a themed marketplace with a range of vibrant attractions and a colourful line-up of food, fashion and fun that will both entertain and educate.
What’s more, the Boulevard Markets aren’t just for adults! While parents are served some creative cooking ideas, the kids will be kept more than entertained with FREE arts and crafts at ‘Kids’ Kitchen Capers.’
So bring the whole family along to the August Boulevard Market with guest chef David Tsirekas, between 9.00am and 2.00pm on Sunday August 26 and enjoy a big, fat day of fun and yummy Greek treats!
