Guest chef Syd Pemberton comes to the Boulevard Market
Food lovers are in for an extra special treat this month when renowned culinary expert, Sydney Pemberton and spice specialist, Ian Hemphill, come to the Boulevard Market at Sydney Olympic Park, to share their secrets on creating your own tasty and tangy preserves at home.
The Market, on 25 March, is themed ‘With Relish! Tasty and Tangy Preserves’ and is free to all food lovers, who are rarely given the opportunity to learn the trade secrets of some of Sydney’s best foodies.
Syd Pemberton is truly a chef’s chef. She has written 14 cookery books on a wide variety of subjects over a period of 10 years, including the popular book, “Jams and Preserves” which features everything from Raspberry Jam and Rose Geranium Jelly to Caramelised Onion Chutney and Fresh Tomato Sauce.
She has contributed to national food magazines as well as appearing as a regular on several successful TV lifestyle shows such as Burke’s Backyard, The Midday Show, Agony Aunts and Fresh Cooking.
Born in England, Sydney moved to Australia in the 1970’s and soon started up Pemberton's Travelling Fare, a specialist catering company working in TV and film as well as for private and corporate clients. After many requests from clients and friends, she began giving cooking demonstrations and classes in her large practical kitchen in Chatswood.
Out of this she started Pemberton’s FOOD WORKSHOP to provide hands-on cooking classes and tours and experiences for food professionals as well as novices.
Syd will be joined by renowned spice expert, Ian Hemphill, a frequent presenter on radio and television, who will be hosting the cooking demonstrations at 11am, 12pm and 1pm.
As a spice expert and the current president of the Food Media Club of Australia, Ian will provide expert advice on what spices and herbs can be used as ingredients in a variety of tasty relish and tangy preserve recipes.
On the last Sunday of each month, Olympic Boulevard at Sydney Olympic Park is transformed into a vibrant marketplace with a wonderful line-up of international food, market stalls, crafts, fashion accessories, homewares, and essential cooking ingredients.
Best of all, the Boulevard Market isn’t just for adults! Entertain the kids with 'Kids’ Kitchen Capers’, free arts and crafts for the little ones. The Boulevard Market is a free event and operates from 9am-2pm.
