It’s healthy, nutritious, good for you and now, it’s easy to make at home. It’s sushi! And Sydney Olympic Park is showing you just how easy it is to turn Japanese when renowned chef, Raita Noda appears as the guest chef at the Boulevard Market on Sunday May 27.
Raita Noda, who is the Chef de Cuisine at the stunning Ocean Room in Sydney’s Overseas Passenger Terminal, is renowned for his Asian and Mediterranean-inspired seafood feasts.
Born in Tokyo and trained in Sydney, food was in Raita Noda’s blood as his family owned a restaurant throughout his younger years. As such, Noda has embraced many aspects of Japanese cuisine and is now an expert in the world of sushi.
After relocating to Australia in 1990, Noda undertook his apprenticeship at Matsukaze restaurant at Chifley Plaza before moving on to become chef de partie at Unkai in the ANA Hotel.
After that, he became proprietor and head chef of Rise Restaurant in Darlinghurst and it was here that Noda really found his footing, garnering a chef’s hat in the Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide and a solid reputation for his sublime Japanese fusion cuisine.
Noda is now ready to share with Sydneysiders some great tips on how to prepare and enjoy a range of sushi and other Japanese inspired dishes. Market-goers will be part of a select few to get the inside scoop from Noda as he normally doesn’t cook on his days off, instead preferring to experience new restaurants.
The Boulevard Market is a monthly event for beginners and experienced cooks alike and includes cooking demonstrations at 11am, 12pm and 1pm.
For one Sunday every month, Sydney Olympic Park is transformed into a themed marketplace with a range of vibrant attractions and a colourful line-up of food, fashion and fun that will both entertain and educate.
Best of all, young and old can enjoy the Boulevard Market! While parents are served some creative cooking ideas, the kids will be kept more than entertained with FREE arts and crafts at ‘Kids’ Kitchen Campers.’
So get together with friends and family and turn Japanese at the Boulevard Market between 9.00am and 2.00pm on Sunday, May 27 at Sydney Olympic Park.
