People attending the Australia v Uzbekistan football match tonight at Stadium Australia, Sydney Olympic Park, are advised to plan ahead, expect large crowds and use public transport, Sydney Olympic Park Authority CEO Alan Marsh said.
‘We are expecting Wednesday night to be very busy as large crowds converge on Sydney Olympic Park for the 2010 FIFA World Cup Asian Qualifier,’ Mr Marsh said.
‘To help everyone have a evening out, we are asking people to plan ahead, expect large crowds and – most importantly – make use of the additional public transport in place to get to the Park,’ Mr Marsh said.
‘With the price of public transport included in a ticket to the game, public transport is the best way to get to the action,’ Mr Marsh said.
Information on public transport to the game is available on the Transport Infoline by calling 131 500 or visiting www.131500.info.
People driving to the game are advised to arrive early to allow for peak hour traffic and large crowds travelling to the stadium.
‘Homebush Bay Drive is expected to experience heavy demand as peak hour combines with large crowds travelling by car to the game,’ Mr Marsh said.
Drivers are encouraged to avoid potential delays on Homebush Bay Drive and approach Sydney Olympic Park by the following routes:
| North |
Through Top Ryde take Victoria Road, Silverwater Road and Holker Street |
| South |
Turn on to Parramatta Road and then Hill Road |
| East |
Take Parramatta Road, then Birnie Avenue or Hill Road. If driving along Victoria Road, consider taking Silverwater Road, then Holker Street |
| West |
Turn on to Silverwater Road, then Holker Street or turn on to Hill Road |
