From diving to Oztag, circus skills and trampolining, there’s a perfect sport for just about every junior sports fan at Sydney Olympic Park these school holidays! Every day of the Easter break, aspiring young swimmers, cyclists, acrobats and golfers will be kept entertained for hours, thanks to the vast array of sporting clinics featured in the Kids in the Park school holiday activities line up.
First up on the sporting scoreboard are new Oztag Clinics for boys and girls aged six and over. As the fastest growing sport in Australia, Oztag football is the perfect way to keep fit and healthy this chocolate season, with the added safety of being a non-tackling game. Clinics are set to be held at Blaxland Riverside Park on 16 and 23 April, and costs only $6 per person.
For those looking to develop a keen eye and precise grip, Kids on Target at the Sydney Olympic Park Archery Centre is the ideal opportunity to take aim and hone those arrow shooting skills to perfection. Children over 10 years of age will be intrigued and challenged as they learn the basics of bows and arrows, with all equipment, safety induction and instruction provided. Bookings are essential for lessons on 14-17 and 20-24 April, at a cost of $15 per person.
If your kids have a passion for pools they’re sure to love the world famous Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre, where there’s water fun to be had all year round. Swimming lessons are available to suit all ages and abilities, with both squad and private lessons on offer. Kids can also plunge into Springboard and Platform Diving Clinics on 20-24 April, where they will develop new skills under the watchful eye of experienced coaches.
Active kids looking to spend some energy with a difference will love clowning around at the Flying Trapeze Workshops. Available to those aged 5 and above, these 90-minute sessions will be complete with hangs, flips and catches, allowing just about anyone to fly through the air on a full-size trapeze like a gold medal gymnast! When combined with the Circus Skills Workshops – where kids can learn to juggle, walk the tight wire, low trapeze, hula hoop and even create human pyramids – Kids in the Park is set to create a new generation of Aussie ringmasters, acrobats, contortionists and clowns.
Also available at Sydney Olympic Park are a vast range of activities for junior cyclists. Kids in the Park offers up an assortment of mountain, hybrid and children’s bikes for hire, or families can BYO and go on a unique Bike Safari around the parklands and shipwrecks in the Bay. Mountain X and BMX can also be ridden on Monster Skatepark’s world-class mountain cross facility, with 250m of meandering, downhill and dirt jumps.
For those super sporty kids who just can’t decide which activity to pick, Sydney Olympic Park’s All Day Holiday Recreation Program is the ultimate school holiday boredom buster. The program is action-packed with a vast variety of activities, from Aussie rules to rugby league, basketball, water slides, obstacle courses, gymnastics, arts and crafts, cooking and much more!
And if that’s not enough, Sydney Olympic Park has loads more activities for active kids these Easter holidays. Other sports clinics and programs on offer include:
