Sydney Swans and Simon and Garfunkel patrons have been encouraged to leave the car at home and take public transport to Sydney Olympic Park on Saturday.
Large crowds are expected at Sydney Olympic Park on Saturday night for the Sydney Swans game at ANZ Stadium and the Simon and Garfunkel concert at Acer Arena, Sydney Olympic Park Authority CEO Alan Marsh said.
“People attending these events are encouraged to leave the car at home and make use of the additional public transport in place to get people to Sydney Olympic Park quickly and easily,’ Mr Marsh said.
“Extra trains and major event buses will be in operation and public transport to and from the Sydney Swans game will be free for ticket holders,” Mr Marsh said.
There will also be a range of food options available at Sydney Olympic Park from 5pm with a covers band playing in The Overflow next to the Stadium from 4pm.
Drivers are advised to plan to arrive early and expect delays on roads approaching Sydney Olympic Park.
Homebush Bay Drive in particular is expected to experience congestion and drivers are encouraged to take the following approaches to Sydney Olympic Park:
| North |
Through Top Ryde take Victoria Road, Silverwater Road and Holker Street |
| South |
Turn on to Parramatta Road and then Hill Road |
| East |
Take Parramatta Road, then Birnie Avenue or Hill Road. If driving along Victoria Road, consider taking Silverwater Road, then Holker Street |
| West | Turn on to Silverwater Road, then Holker Street or turn on to Hill Road |
Car parks are expected to be in heavy demand and drivers who have not pre-booked parking are advised to consider taking advantage of the additional public transport and food options and entertainment at Sydney Olympic Park.
Information on the public transport is available on the Transport Infoline by calling 131 500 or visiting www.131500.com.au.
