State Plan - A New Direction for NSW

A weekend of all things spicy at Sydney Olympic Park

12 October 2006

From kebabs and souvlaki to satay, Sydney Olympic Park and guest chef David Tsirekas will be showing onlookers exactly how to create mouth-watering Mediterranean meals at the October Boulevard Market.

On Sunday 22 October, David Tsirekas, the passionate Greek chef from the award-winning Perama Restaurant in Petersham, will delight market goers by demonstrating the preparation of a delicious, traditional-Greek Lamb Souvlaki.

David’s recipes are renowned as being quick and easy, and perfect for getting all the family involved.

David’s three-year old daughter helps him prepare some meals, and market-goers can learn not only how to prepare traditional Greek food, but also how to get their whole family involved in the preparation process.

By combining David’s family-style cooking with 'Kid’s Kitchen Capers', which has a range of free arts and crafts activities from 10am-2pm, Mums and Dads will soon be sitting back while the kids prepare the evening meals!

This month, market-goers will be joined by around 10,000 cyclists from the Portfolio Partners Spring Cycle, a 50km fun bike ride which finishes at The Overflow.

After riding 50km, these cyclists will have worked up a powerful hunger and The Boulevard Market will have plenty of food and live entertainment to satisfy them. The Overflow will be buzzing, with the chance to check out the latest bikes and accessories from well-known bike retailers plus plenty of giveaways and prizes to win.

Add to that the range of specialty stalls with a smorgasbord of international food, goods, crafts, fashion accessories and homewares, and the day will be gone in a flash!

Joanna Savill, Producer/Presenter of SBS ‘The Food Lovers’ Guide to Australia’, who is the popular MC at the Boulevard Market, will host the cooking demonstrations at 11am, 12pm and 1pm.

The Boulevard Market is located at Olympic Boulevard, Sydney Olympic Park and run from 9.00am-2.00pm on Sunday October 22.
