Chief Executive Officer for the Sydney Olympic Park Authority Brian Newman has welcomed the announcement of a five-year sponsorship agreement with PBL which has resulted in the Sydney SuperDome’s first-ever naming rights deal that will see it re-branded as Acer Arena.
Recognised as Australia’s number one indoor entertainment venue and number two worldwide, just behind Madison Square Garden, the SuperDome will take on its new identity from 12 May 2006, spearheading Acer’s drive to become Australia’s number one consumer technology brand.
“The sponsorship is yet another example of the corporate sectors growing confidence in Sydney Olympic Park” Mr Newman said.
“Acer is one of over 60 corporations based at Sydney Olympic Park and it makes sense for them to leverage Australia’s leading entertainment venue to promote and grow their business,” he said.
Acer’s investment follows that of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, who are building a new call centre at the Park, and the Accor Group, who are establishing a new 5 star Sofitel hotel to supplement their existing two hotels at the Park” Mr Newman added.
“Sydney Olympic Park continues to go from strength to strength. Last year over 7.7 million people visited the Park, an increase of 16.9% on the previous year. In addition to continuing to be Australia’s home of sport and one of Sydney’s best recreational playgrounds, the Park is playing an important role as a destination for business events, with over $20 million worth of events staged at the Park in 2005” he said.
Acer are sponsoring the entertainment venue in conjunction with Intel, who are seeking to showcase their new Intel® Viiv™ technology.
The Acer sponsorship will enhance peoples experience at the venue, with Acer and Intel set to introduce new and exciting innovations, as well as provide on-demand, Internet-delivered digital entertainment direct to people’s homes.
