The Sydney Olympic Park Authority has welcomed a new high-quality café, restaurant and function centre to Bicentennial Park, which will significantly enhance the range of services on offer in the parklands.
Chief Executive Officer for the Sydney Olympic Park Authority, Brian Newman says the new $8 million investment is just the start of an overall vision for the Authority to further develop the parklands in the precinct.
“This new initiative, along with the recently announced $100 million office development for the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, and the $20 million facility for the NSW Institute of Sport is a clear indication that Sydney Olympic Park is on the move,” Mr Newman said.
“Bicentennial Park is just one of eight major parklands in the precinct, and over the next twenty years we will see a diverse array of new services and facilities offered in these parklands. These will include new cafes and restaurants, as well as outdoor leisure and recreational activities,” Mr Newman added.
The stylish new development, WatervieW Convention Centre will cater for a range of corporate and wedding clients, and will complement the impressive array of business event facilities already on offer at Sydney Olympic Park.
In 2004, Sydney Olympic Park hosted over 3,300 business events, and it’s anticipated that this figure will increase substantially over the next 12 months with the opening of WatervieW.
The Sydney Olympic Park Authority has driven over $8.3 million in new business events to the precinct, and in the last financial year new business grew by more than 60 per cent.
“Sydney Olympic Park is positioning itself as a leader in the business events market in New South Wales. No other destination offers such a diverse array of business event facilities for meetings, exhibitions, conventions and private functions,” Mr Newman said.
