Lunar New Year Celebrations at
Sydney Olympic Park

January 2004

Experience oriental flavours, colour, music, art, craft and dance when Sydney Olympic Park's monthly Boulevard Market celebrates the Lunar New Year on Sunday 25 January 2004.

See Olympic Boulevard transformed into an exquisite oriental marketplace with a rich mix of Vietnamese, Korean and Chinese flavours for all of Sydney to enjoy.

There is something for everyone at the Boulevard Market including a diverse offering of Asian food, fashion and artefacts,, massage and music alongside regular Boulevard Market stalls.

From 10am, Celebrity Chef , Madam Mei Fong Wong ( known as Mrs Lee)  will cook up a storm for Boulevard Market goers. Having studied to become a chef in Hong Kong and Taiwan, Mrs Lee's cooking expertise incorporates all styles of Asian cooking including Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese, Thai, Malaysian and Indonesian. Watch as Mrs Lee prepares three delicious dishes to celebrate the Lunar New Year including one each from China, Vietnam and Korea.

As part of the complimentary entertainment experience the traditional energetic Lion Dance, and have your name or traditional Lunar New Year greeting written in Chinese calligraphy. Enjoy the Korean dance drummers as they parade through the market in colourful costume.

Kid's Kitchen Capers will keep the little ones entertained from 10am-2pm and in keeping with the festivities, children will be shown how to make Lunar New Year decorations.

Where? The Boulevard Market is located on Olympic Boulevard (near The Overflow between Telstra Stadium and Olympic Park Station)

When? 9am-2pm on the fourth Sunday of the month
