Celebrity chef and regular guest on Channel 10’s “Ready Steady Cook”, Carol Selva Rajah will be noodlin’ about the Boulevard Market at Sydney Olympic Park on Sunday, 28 May sharing oodles of tips with keen market-goers.
With this month’s theme being noodlin’, Carol was the obvious choice for this month’s Boulevard Market. Author of 10 cookbooks on Malaysian and South East Asian cuisine, and having hosted a 10-year television series for Malaysian television on microwave cooking, Carol is one of Australia’s most respected experts in Asian cuisine.
A true “noodle-buff”, Carol honed her skills through a multicultural education and Asian studies combined with travel and teaching experiences. Put simply, Carol is the ideal person to give audiences the inside scoop on the different types of noodles used in Asian Cooking and their history.
Carol will also demonstrate how to prepare her signature dish, Char Kuay Teow. This dish is made from flat rice noodles and is fried over a very high heat with light and dark soy sauce, chilli, prawns, cockles, egg, bean sprouts and Chinese chives.
Robert Guan from Seabay Restaurant, will also join Carol in demonstrating how to make fresh Chinese noodles. Some lucky audience members will be given hands on experience, when Robert demonstrates how to roll out and stretch their own noodles. With Robert’s noodle-tutelage, audience members will be true experts.
Joanna Savill of SBS Food Lovers Guide will host the cooking demonstrations at 11am, 12pm and 1pm.
And as usual, it doesn't stop there. Market goers have the chance to win prizes and enjoy a smorgasbord of other international food, goods, crafts, fashion accessories and home wares. The kids are not forgotten either with 'Kids Kitchen Capers', free arts and crafts and cooking activities from 10am-2pm.
The Boulevard Market is located at Olympic Boulevard, Sydney Olympic Park and run from 9.00am-2.00pm on Sunday May 28.
