Environmental Guidelines
The Environmental Guidelines referred to within the Sydney Olympic Park Authority Act (2001) means the Environmental Guidelines for the Summer Olympic Games (September, 1993). The Guidelines were developed as part of Sydney's bid for the Sydney 2000 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games and were instrumental in delivering the environmental legacies on which Sydney Olympic Park can build. The Environmental Guidelines outline ecologically sustainable development in terms of:
- protecting biological diversity
- energy conservation
- water conservation
- waste avoidance and minimisation
- protecting significant natural and cultural environments
