Exempt Development is a category of low impact or minor development. Sydney Regional Environmental Plan No. 24 - Homebush Bay Area (SREP 24) describes the range of Exempt Development available at Sydney Olympic Park.

Exempt Development does not require a development application or a construction certificate but does require approval by Sydney Olympic Park Authority under SREP 24.For these types of development to be carried out without consent, all of the nominated criteria and requirements must be met, including compliance with the Building Code of Australia.
Prior to lodgement, the Applicant is strongly recommended to discuss the proposal with representatives of the Sustainability Unit of the Sydney Olympic Park Authority before lodging a Exempt Development or if modifications are required to an existing approved development.

There is usually no requirement to notify an Exempt Development application due to the minor nature of the development. However, the Authority may put a proposed development on notification at its discretion and in accordance with a public notification policy.
