Cycles in Our World – Science & Technology
Cycles in Our World is one of our popular primary school programs, encouraging students to experience a range of living and non-living life cycles in a natural outdoor setting.
In this field trip excursion, students explore the mangroves and forest of Bicentennial Park at Sydney Olympic Park. They find tiny creatures they never knew existed and learn to create a wetland food web.
The hands-on exploration of wetlands and dry environments helps Stage 2 science and technology students understand:
- the life cycle of a mangrove tree from seed to maturity
- seasonal and cyclic patterns among plants and animals, including tides
- insects that rely on water for part of their life cycle, the dragonfly and mosquito.
