Our Australia: You’re Standing In It – HSIE
This primary school program for Stage 2 HSIE students is a hands-on experience of Sydney Olympic Park.
Students interact with natural and built environments on an outdoor excursion of Bicentennial Park. This helps them explore the benefits and problems of humans changing the landscape.
Using significant features of the Park on the school field trip, students:
- study the significance of mangrove wetlands and how humans have altered them
- describe the unique plants and animals found within a maintained parkland
- consider how Aboriginal people traditionally used the area compared to its current use
- develop an understanding of why and how people create specialised environments.
