In these interactive science excursions, students in Years 5 and 6 investigate land management techniques, and evaluate natural and built environments.

Interconnecting Growth and Change – COGS

This excursion to Sydney Olympic Park for Stage 3 COGs explores land management practices since European settlement.

On this outdoor field trip through Bicentennial Park, students complete several challenging activities, including:

  • mapping to study the Park’s natural history and reveal changes to the waterways and wetlands
  • a water quality assessment
  • data recording to determine the health of the ecosystem and the predicted threat of introduced animal and weed communities.

This educational school excursion to Sydney Olympic Park supports the Interconnecting Growth and Change Stage 3 COGs unit.

Living Land – COGS

This primary school program for Stage 3 COGs students is a hands-on experience of Sydney Olympic Park.

Students interact with natural and built environments on an outdoor excursion of Bicentennial Park. They explore the transformation of built and natural environments over the past 200 years.

Using significant features of the Park on the school field trip, students:

  • critique parkland artwork 
  • assess play areas for safety and sun protection
  • examine waste reduction, water recycling and solar power

Students discuss past Aboriginal use of the Park for food and current use of the Park for recreation.

This educational school trip to Sydney Olympic Park supports the Living Land Stage 3 COGs unit.
