Global Environments: The Estuarine Wetland, Environment Matters – Science & Technology

Global Environments is one of our popular primary school programs, encouraging students to actively care for the environment.

In this field trip excursion, students explore the mangrove ecosystem at Bicentennial Park in Sydney Olympic Park.

Through outdoor, hands-on exploration, students investigate how to protect, preserve and compare mangrove ecosystems. Field trip activities include scientific techniques like:

  • water monitoring
  • animal counts
  • design features
  • map interpretation.

Students are encouraged to question past and present uses of mangroves and investigate how mangroves can be protected globally.

Through their work in the mangrove environment, students become part of Sydney Olympic Park’s ecologically sustainable projects.

This educational school excursion to Sydney Olympic Park supports the Global Environments – The Estuarine Wetland, Environment Matters Stage 3 Science & Technology unit.

Renewable Energy – Science & Technology

The Renewable Energy excursion is a very popular primary school field trip to the Ausgrid Education Centre at Sydney Olympic Park.

The Renewable Energy program focuses on solar, wind and movement energy sources. In this challenging science excursion, students try hands-on exploratory activities, including:

  • building their own sustainable houses using wind turbines and hand-held solar panels
  • exploring energy transformation using an energy bike, water turbine and hand generator.

The Renewable Energy field trip includes a visit to a mature bush tucker garden to discuss sustainable living.

This educational school trip to Sydney Olympic Park supports the Renewable Energy Stage 3 Science & Technology unit.
