Applications in the Environment: Mathematics – Year 7–8

This is a fun secondary school field trip to Sydney Olympic Park. Year 7 and Year 8 maths students leave the classroom to apply their mathematical skills in the natural world.

On a maths excursion of Bicentennial Park, Sydney Olympic Park, students explore problems related to scientific issues within the Park.

Students apply many skills on the challenging school field trip, including:
• determining the area of shapes and natural forms
• reading charts
• determining ratios of growth and size to name but a few.

This educational school trip supports Stage 4 Mathematics NSW curriculum.

Learning comes alive with outdoor school programs at Sydney Olympic Park. Bicentennial Park is the perfect place for high school programs. The 100 hectare natural heritage site has 60 hectares of important wetland and 40 hectares of parklands to discover.
