Sydney Olympic Park welcomes Acer Arena

Sydney Olympic Park has welcomed the announcement of a five-year agreement which has resulted in the Sydney SuperDome's first-ever naming rights deal that has rebranded it as Acer Arena.

Recognised as Australia's number one indoor entertainment venue and number two worldwide, just behind Madison Square Garden, the SuperDome took on its new identity in May 2006.

Chief Executive Officer for the Sydney Olympic Park Authority Brian Newman has said, "the sponsorship is yet another example of the corporate sector's confidence in Sydney Olympic Park. Acer is one of over 60 corporations based at Sydney Olympic Park and it makes sense for them to leverage Australia's leading entertainment venue to promote and grow their business".

The Acer sponsorship will enhance people's experience at the venue, with Acer and Intel set to introduce new and exciting innovations, as well as provide on-demand, Internet-delivered digital entertainment direct to people's homes.

Accor's presence in Greater Sydney received a boost when the 3.5 star Hotel Ibis Sydney Olympic Park was awarded the AHA (Australian Hotels Association) of NSW Accommodation Industry Award for Best Mid Market Hotel in 2006.

The award was judged primarily on the quality of the hotel facilities and guest experiences, by an anonymous judge who was accommodated overnight in the hotel. Sydney Showground Wins the National MEA Catering & Banqueting Award

After a successful NSW MEA (Meetings & Events Australia) Awards campaign, Sydney Showground has triumphed over the best catering teams in the country for the second year in a row to win the coveted Catering/Banqueting Award at the National MEA Awards Gala Dinner on April 29, 2006.

One of the major points of difference for Sydney Showground's catering is its connection to the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW; and this collective expertise in event delivery and product knowledge is reflected in its catering abilities. Additionally all revenue generated from business events held at the venue is channelled back to the RAS to finance the promotion of agriculture in NSW and Australia.

“We have developed catering services that truly reflect the best that Australia can provide by using our knowledge of quality award winning produce and developing menus to showcase this great product to our corporate guests,” said General Manager Event Sales, Kim-Laura Brown.
