The facilities at Newington Armory artists’ precinct
Our shared studio spaces are designed especially for painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics and writing. Other art practices are also welcome.
Building 24 is the main visual arts facility with plenty of natural light and 17 studios available to hire (5 painting, 6 sculpture, 2 printmaking and 4 ceramics). The venue is well-equipped with work benches, seating, studio lighting, ventilation and exhaust, clean up areas, easels, shelving and specialised equipment including a kiln, aquatint cupboard and chemical workroom.
Building 50 (woodwork) and Building 233 (metalwork) are equipped with a range of manual and power tools including saws, drills, grinders, sanders and MIG and oxyacetylene welding equipment.
Building 126 is a cottage that offers opportunities for artist interaction plus a space for ‘desk work’. It has a common room, kitchen facilities and office with internet connection and telephone.
Building 122 is a 4 bedroom residential cottage for the artist in residence program.
