Newington Armory is a new and exciting arts precinct and offers a choice of multi-purpose venues available for all members of the community.
Building 18 near the Parramatta River is one of the largest armament storehouses constructed prior to World War 2 and it now houses a flexible exhibition space that can accommodate 500 visitors at one time. This extraordinary heritage building has the longest uninterrupted wall space of any gallery in Australia, making it a favourite location for large-scale exhibitions such as the annual ARTEXPRESS.
Located within Building 22 at the heart of the Armory, the Armory Theatre is a multi-purpose performance space that seats 210 people. It’s perfect for small-scale theatre, concerts, seminars, conferences, community meetings, product launches, film screenings and arts/cultural workshops.
Located just next to the Armory Theatre, the Armory Amphitheatre is a shaded outdoor stage area measuring 12mx10m, making it large enough for a 60-piece orchestra. The natural grassy slope provides picnic-style seating for audiences up to 4,000 and is ideal for performances, concerts, presentations, workshops and as a focal point for community activities.
