Sports Centre hosts Return2Sport Expo
22 Oct 2012
Following an outstandingly successful inaugural Expo in 2011, the Return2Sport Expo has returned to the Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre, helping to raise awareness and improve the opportunities for people with a disability to engage in healthy sport and recreational activities.
Graham Annesley, NSW Minister for Sport opened the event, speaking about the importance of sporting and recreational inclusiveness for individuals with a disability. Mr Annesley spoke of the inspirational actions of the Australian Paralympic Team at the London 2012 Paralympic Games and the value of the Return2Sport Expo to people with disabilities.
Over two days (11-12 October) the Expo provided a showcase for as broad a range of sporting and recreational activities as possible for people with a disability to come and experience.
The Expo used both the Sports Centre’s Hall of Legends and the Main Arena, providing space not only for exhibitors representing a diverse range of sports and activities, but also room for exhibition games and demonstrations of many of the sports on offer.
Soccer, table tennis, motorcycling, football, golf, flying and sailing were only a few of the sporting endeavours on show at the expo, providing a wide variety of options for people with a disability to continue to be involved in sports and healthy social activities.
