State of Origin: Spiritual Home of the Blues

State of Origin I will be held at the spiritual home of the NSW VB Blues, ANZ Stadium Sydney Olympic Park.

Ticketholders are strongly advised to leave the car at home and opt for public transport, which is included in the cost of the tickets.

Those planning to drive are encouraged to pre-book parking for a flat fee of $20 via the Sydney Olympic Park website. With heavy traffic congestion expected, motorists are encouraged to use alternative driving routes:

  • From the North: Through Top Ryde, take Victoria Road, then Silverwater Road and turn into Holker Street.
  • From the South: From Centenary Drive, turn onto Parramatta Road then take either Birnie Avenue or Hill Road.
  • From the West: Turn onto Silverwater Road then onto Hill Road.
  • From the East: Take Parramatta Road, then Birnie Avenue or Hill Road.

If you are driving along Victoria Road consider taking Silverwater Road then Holker Street.

Since crowds of more than 80,000 are expected to pack ANZ Stadium for the 2013 State of Origin series opener on 5 June, fans are advised to arrive early and enjoy the extended trading hours both pre and post event. There’ll be more than 30 cafes, bars and restaurants available for fans to soak-up the atmosphere and avoid the rush in-and-out of Olympic Park. Plus more than 20 internationally-themed food stalls will also operate until 11.00pm.

An array of FREE entertainment and electrifying laser light show will excite fans. Spectacular projections of past and present NSW Blues team legends will light-up the front of ANZ Stadium. Fans will arrive to an amazing sea of blue illumination in the form of a laser light show to support for the NSW team.

Pre-game fan interviews and commentary will be broadcast on big screens across Sydney Olympic Park and graffiti art, live beat-boxers and hip hop tunes will be heard from 5.30pm – 8.00pm at Fig Grove. There will also be loads of pre-game entertainment at Cathy Freeman Park opposite ANZ Stadium, where The Good Stuff covers band will perform live on-stage from 5.45pm – 7.45pm.

ANZ Stadium gates will open at 5.45pm and Game I of the 2013 Holden NRL State of Origin series will kick-off at 8.00pm.
