New South Wales goes rah rah for the Tahs

Thursday 31 July 2014

The NSW Waratahs will compete for their first ever Super Rugby title at ANZ Stadium this Saturday (2 August 2014) when they take on the Crusaders.

Minister for Sport and Recreation Stuart Ayres congratulated the Waratahs on earning the right to host a home Grand Final and encouraged people to come early and enjoy the pre-game festivities in what’s set to be one of Sydney’s biggest sporting events of the year.

“It’s very exciting that the Tahs will compete for their first ever Super Rugby title on home turf,” Mr Ayres said.

“The atmosphere at Sydney Olympic Park is set to be electrifying and I encourage everyone to take public transport and arrive early to take advantage of the exciting pre-game entertainment and great range of cafés, bars and restaurants that will be open extended hours.”

There is a range of pre-game activities planned across the precinct to excite fans before kick-off with Sydney Olympic Park awash with electrifying blue lights from 5pm and loads of free, family-friendly entertainment from 4pm.

With already 50,000 tickets snapped up, a massive crowd is expected for the match, meaning public transport is the best way to get to and from the stadium.

Tickets to the game include travel to and from Sydney Olympic Park on trains, Major Event Buses, regular buses, Sydney Ferries and Light Rail services.

A special “Tah Train” will also be taking supporters direct from Central to ANZ Stadium.
“Decorated in sky blue and with Waratahs mascot ‘Tah Man’ on board, the “Tah Train” will depart Central at 6.10pm, giving those on-board plenty of time arrive early and enjoy the pre-match attractions,” Mr Ayres said.
Those who still choose to drive should pre-book parking for a flat rate of $25 via the Sydney Olympic Park website.

The Super Rugby Final will kick-off at 7.40pm at ANZ Stadium. Gates will open at 5.45pm.
