NRL Grand Final and the EB Games Expo at Sydney Olympic Park this Sunday

Fans urged to arrive early and allow ample time for travel

Crowds of up to 100, 000 are expected at Sydney Olympic Park this Sunday 4 October for the historic all-Queensland 2015 NRL Telstra Premiership Grand Final between the Brisbane Broncos and the North Queensland Cowboys at ANZ Stadium and the EB Games Expo at the Sydney Showground.

The precinct will be a colourful mix of footy fans and EB Gamers known for their fancy dress such as ‘Storm Troopers’.

NRL ticket-holders are urged to allow ample travel time and take public transport, included in the cost of event tickets. In addition to avoiding the rush, Rugby League fans who arrive early will find plenty of FREE pre-match entertainment at Cathy Freeman Park (opposite ANZ Stadium) and surrounds including:

* 1pm: More than 20 internationally-themed street food options, in addition to more than 30 cafés, bars and restaurants across Sydney Olympic Park. Fans will also find a footy carnival featuring rides, team bars, family-friendly activities and a merchandise marquee on Olympic Boulevard.

* 2pm: Beer Garden and family entertainment zone at Cathy Freeman Park with live music and kids' activities.

* Post-Match: Sydney Olympic Park’s iconic landmarks will be illuminated in the colours of the winning team, and restaurants and cafés will remain open for special event extended trading hours across Sydney Olympic Park.

Media commentators are reminded that Sydney Olympic Park is officially a suburb and NOT part of Homebush which is a separate suburb serviced by its own railway station approximately 3km away from Olympic Park train station. Incorrect reference to the venue causes confusion and may lead commuters – particularly those from interstate – to incorrectly disembark at the wrong suburb.

Those planning to drive despite of advice should pre-book parking via the Sydney Olympic Park website. Parking at P1 (via Edwin Flack Avenue, nearest to Olympic Boulevard) is already sold out; however a limited number of pre-booked parking alternatives are still available at P3, P5 and P6 car parks at Sydney Olympic Park.

With road closures to be enforced in-and-around the Park, motorists should also refer to for alternative driving routes to-and-from Sydney Olympic Park this Sunday.

Sydney Olympic Park Authority also urges fans to slip, slop and slap this Sunday, with temperatures forecast to hit the thirties (Celsius) at Sydney Olympic Park.

ANZ Stadium gates will open at 1.15pm. The Telstra Premiership Grand Final will kick-off at 7.15pm.
