 Sydney Olympic Park Authority Wins State Title Two Years In A Row At MEA

For the second year running, Sydney Olympic Park has been awarded NSW Winner at the Meetings & Events Australia (MEA) 2015 Industry Awards in the category of “Regional Destination Marketing Organisation”.

The MEA Industry Awards is number one in recognising and awarding best industry management practice and outstanding performance in the Australian meetings and events industry.

The Sydney Olympic Park Business Events team will now proceed to the National Awards event in Melbourne on 19 April, when the winner will be announced at the MEA National Conference 2016 Gala Dinner. 

"To receive such significant acknowledgement by MEA for the second year in a row is really encouraging and reinforces the effectiveness of our destination marketing approach," said Sydney Olympic Park Authority Executive Manager, Business Events Danielle Hoare.

"With 100 function spaces, across 10 venues, in one destination, Sydney Olympic Park is equipped to cater to virtually any type of corporate event.  We work closely with all 10 venues to collectively market the precinct as a world class destination and I believe the strength of our collaboration partners is key to our success," Ms Hoare added.

The category of Regional Destination Marketing Organisation judges the best business focusing on the destination marketing services delivered relating specifically to the convention and meetings market - not general tourism, hospitality or destination activities. The judging is not related to the size of the budget but on the quality of the services provided and the results obtained within the established parameters and objectives set.

The total number of events held at Olympic Park during 2015 was 5,713; an increase of 13% on the previous year. Business functions constitute approximately half of all events held at the Park. Business events increased by 25% in 2015, driven by growth in consumer exhibitions, special business events and trade exhibitions.
