Birdwatching - Wake up with the Birds
Sydney Olympic Park Authority and BirdLife Australia has developed an exciting and unique opportunity for conference delegates to explore the legacy of the 2000 Green Games at Sydney Olympic Park.
Sydney Olympic Park is an urban island comprised of a mosaic of natural areas including grassland, woodland and wetlands. Habitat creation and adaptive management has seen an increase in bird diversity and abundance since the Park’s inception. Over 200 bird species, almost one quarter of the national count, has been recorded at Sydney Olympic Park since 2000.
Birdlife Australia guides will take you to one of three different waterbird habitats on offer each day. Each wetland provides the opportunity to see a different mix of bird life.
Tours to two sites begin with a short bus ride, followed by a 10 minute easy grade walk. The third site is a 10 minute easy grade walk from the congress venue. A good level of fitness is required.
Numbers are strictly limited – bookings required. Tours leave promptly at the specified start-time.
