Sydney Olympic Park Heritage Train Tour - Newington Armory Experience:

This guided visit to Newington Armory, a former Naval armament depot, will showcase the natural and cultural heritage of this fascinating site, and its adaptive re-use as an urban parkland facility. Visitors will explore heritage buildings including the 1897 gunpowder magazine, then board the passenger train pulled by an 1970’s locomotive for a journey that takes in stories of the site’s past operations as a armament depot. Tour includes a visit to former workshops and Armament Display in a former storehouse.  The train tour route also takes in the critically endangered Newington forest, as well as extensive freshwater wetlands constructed for the endangered Green and Golden Bell Frog.  A Park ecologist will provide insights into the management and enhancement of these important ecological communities.
