Tu lay (The Bridge)
My grandfather acted as the bridge that brought the family together. He inspired and motivated the family, so I created this body of work, Tulay (The Bridge), to show my appreciation and explore the idea of familial connection. I remember drawing with lead pencil in my childhood, so I have represented my improvements and undying passion for drawing by contrasting the stick figures on the still life of the bench seat with the realistic portraits. In my work, my intent is to give audiences the opportunity to reminisce about special family moments and memories that spark an emotional reaction.
