In retrospect, the most beautiful
Drawing
My body of work was driven by the desire to translate the inner workings and ineffable sensations of the subconscious in a visual display. Each illustration intends to collectively capture the beauty of yearning to understand oneself through marking experiences in attempt to express the inexpressible. Through certain artmaking choices and meticulous selection of imagery, I aimed to unify concept and practice to explore the complexities and wild illogicality that stimulate intense emotions. The ideas behind these works were inspired by Sigmund Freud who quoted: “One day, in retrospect, the years of struggle will strike you as the most beautiful.”
