The Water Below
Painting
My body of work is a celebration of the sublime in the sky and the ocean, while at the same time juxtaposing the black spaces to represent an infinite space existing independent of nature. Influenced by Romantic artists such as Caspar David Friedrich and J. M. W. Turner, I attempt to draw upon the universal sublime seen in the sky and the ocean, contrasted against the darkened areas inspired by Kazimir Malevich as an expression of the anti-sublime.
