"Biomimicry: an approach to innovation emulating nature's time-tested patterns and strategies.
The inspiration for my body of work is the form of viruses, bacteria and cancer cells as viewed under an electron microscope. Struck by the simplistic purity of the forms within the surrounding environment 'Biomimicry' captures this as an investigation of form and space. I attempted to push the medium of tissue paper to its limits, creating organic forms from geometric shapes. Through manipulation, the material transcends the world of organic and metamorphic - taking on its own lifeform. Through this the sculptures have transformed into biomimicry."
