Three Fisherman Brothers
Drawing
My body of work represents the daily life of three fisherman brothers. The insects attract fish from the water. The birds snap the fish but rope around their necks prevents them from swallowing them. The hands represent the daily hardships for the fishermen, from sailing on a small bamboo raft to pulling the birds in to retrieve the fish. The order of drawings expresses the Vietnamese rural style of living, and my transition to life in a new country. I drew on old documents (school awards, reports), a reminder of my childhood in my home country, Vietnam.
