Corrugated Ruins, Bilpin
Collection of Works
My body of work explores my shock and distress after seeing the effects of the 2019–2020 bushfires on the Bilpin community and landscape. I represented the broken community in ceramic forms, adding iron and manganese oxides to refer to burnt ashes of buildings and trees. The prints focus on the contrast between the buildings and the burnt ashy trees. I added strong reds and oranges to my colour palette throughout to express a landscape that will always be affected by these fires, and the burning red colours that will forever be in this community’s history.
