"My BOW explores the effect of human interaction with the coastal marine environment, the struggle of contemporary society merging with our fragile underwater world. Referenced in my underwater photographic images, this haven is time and again in conflict with human habitation. The stark contrast of trash and debris repeatedly deposited in this ecosystem, conflicts with the natural, diverse and intricate beauty just beneath the surface. In an attempt to highlight the cumulative impact our actions have on this pristine aquatic habitat, 'Fractured Paradise' explores the delicate relationship between a consumerist urban landscape and the natural marine environment on our doorstep.
After completing a SCUBA Diving (PADI License), Underwater, LightRoom, and photography tutorials, I spent many hours diving in the ocean and the aquatic environments near my home, taking close to five thousand photos. Following this, I spent multiple hours, culling, editing and cropping images, splicing together various combinations of images to project the 'Fractured Paradise' I encountered during my underwater experiences."
