'With an apple, I will astonish Paris'
My collection explores the dichotomy within a congested fast-paced city where excitement and solitude coexist. By contrasting the macro with the micro, the saturated colour of the outer works with the monotonous greyscale of the central work, it alludes to certain dualities within a metropolis. Of particular interest were the ideas of the natural versus the unnatural; light against dark; concrete with liquiform; the beauty of the mundane; isolation amongst overpopulation, and the interrelationship between the individual and society. The outer pieces portray the melancholic and mysterious atmosphere of the city between the high-rises, framing the ephemeral beauty of neon fluidly reflected and blurred by mellow rain, a beauty often unnoticed and left untrumpeted.
