Koyaanisqatsi
Painting
Godfrey Reggio’s 1982 film Koyaanisqatsi shows the destructive and wasteful ways of contemporary life. My body of work represents the psychological effects of modern society and calls for another way of living. My intent is to question the effectiveness of modern life and show how our innocence has been degraded with the advancement of society. The work expresses a monotonous and cynical outlook on life, using rough brush strokes on worn surfaces in many parts to represent a notion of decay. Much like the decay seen in modern life today.
