A new partnership to shape an exciting new future for Sydney Olympic Park

01 Aug 2021

SGS Economics and Planning has been appointed to shape a new Place Vision and Strategy for Sydney Olympic Park.

SGS will work with Cred Consulting and in-house experts to leverage the opportunities of the new Metro Station to breathe new life into this iconic location for Greater Sydney.

CEO of Placemaking NSW Anita Mitchell said while the precinct was well known and loved for its Olympic heritage and major events, the Metro opportunity would strengthen Sydney Olympic Park’s appeal as a compelling everyday destination.

“SGS Economics and Planning is well equipped to help us deliver this critically important Place Vision and Strategy to ensure Sydney Olympic Park thrives for years to come.

“The strength of SGS and Cred’s approach was in the integration of stakeholder and community engagement throughout the Vision creation. This, combined with their practical and evidence-based process, made them the winning tender,” Ms Mitchell said.

The new Place Vision and Strategy will focus on delivering a precinct that successfully combines world-class venues, public spaces, parklands, and events, with a growing community of workers, residents, students, and visitors.

Ms Mitchell said the work will inform the development of a new Masterplan process in early 2022 which will shape all future developments in the precincts.

“Sydney Olympic Park already plays host to a daily working and residential population of more than 20,000 people and more than 10 million visitors every year,” Ms Mitchell said.

“Engaging with the diverse community of locals and visitors as well as businesses and venue operators within the park will be a crucial part of the vision creation.”
