The NSW Government today fired the starter pistol on the development of a new 20-year vision for Sydney Olympic Park (SOP), to leverage the opportunity presented by the new Sydney Metro West station at the site.
Placemaking NSW CEO Anita Mitchell said industry tenders were invited for the creation of a new Place Vision and Strategy, and a new Masterplan to guide the precinct up until 2050.
“We’re at the starting blocks of a defining era of sustainable growth for Sydney Olympic Park, with the new Metro unlocking opportunities for residents and visitors,” Ms Mitchell said.
“Today we’re calling for industry bids to lead delivery of the vision, strategy and masterplan, and for expressions of interest from subject matter experts in a range of disciplines to work with us.
“This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to leverage the benefits of the new Metro, and to create a vision for Sydney Olympic Park that supports new jobs, homes and major events, alongside conservation of abundant urban parkland.
“It gives us a fresh chance to reimagine Sydney Olympic Park as a vibrant town centre, well connected with great public spaces and providing more homes, jobs and retail options for communities in Greater Sydney.”
The new Place Vision and Strategy for the precinct, and a draft Masterplan 2050 will be developed over the next 12 months.
Industry submissions for project lead work open today and close on 2 July, with expressions of interest from subject matter experts opening today and closing on 16 July.
