Road closures planned to enable bollard installation

28 Oct 2019

Partial road closures are currently in place on Olympic Boulevard until late November to enable the installation of retractable bollards, which will streamline the operation of Sydney Olympic Park during events.

Retractable bollards are being installed at three locations on Murray Rose Avenue and Olympic Boulevard, and the work is being undertaken in stages.

The bollards will replace many of the large concrete blocks currently used during major events at Sydney Olympic Park and will be much faster to put in place and remove, greatly reducing the time it takes to reactivate the precinct for vehicle traffic following events.

Work has been completed on stages one and two of the project at Murray Rose Avenue and Olympic Boulevard (at the corner of Herb Elliott Avenue).

The third and final stage of the project is underway to install retractable bollards on Olympic Boulevard, near Qudos Bank Arena. As a result, partial road closures will be in place from 29 October until 22 November 2019. Project timelines may be subject to change.

Traffic control measures and detours are in place to enable installation of the retractable bollards.
